HOW MUCH IS STAMP DUTY?
Stamp duty is a charge which is applied by state governments in Australia and is in relation to the transfer of land or property. State Government charges may vary depending on the purpose of the security purchased. For example, the charges will differ if you buy an owner-occupied property as a first home owner or as an investor who has owned property before. Each state in Australia has a unique scale of charges, which are accounted for in the stamp duty calculator.

STAMP DUTY FOR INVESTMENT PROPERTY
Government charges differ when purchasing an investment property compared to the purchase of an owner-occupied property. Invariably, costs applied to investments are higher. Additionally, different cost scales apply across different states; as an investor, stamp duty payable may be a material factor in where you purchase your investment property and may influence your final decision.
Although there are tax deductions applicable to stamp duty paid over a period of time, paying less stamp duty may be of importance to you. Please consult with your tax accountant.
